Finding Time for Blog Writing

January 3, 2010 in Blogging | View Comments

I’ve stopped blogging in the past, because I didn’t find the time to write, which obviously did no good for my blog. Like most bloggers, I have a job which takes about 8-9 hours a day, then we need to sleep, and in the end we’re left with about 6-7 hours of time to spend for house work and with friends and family.

This is why we have to optimize the time we have and we’re surely to find time to write a blog. I’ll list a few tips on how to find time for blogging.

Stop Wasting Your Time

Focus your energy on tasks that have the most influence on achieving your goals. As a blogger that would be gaining more subscribers and readers. Don’t waste time checking your blog stats. I used to do that, it’s a waste of time. Don’t waste time every day checking number of your subscribers or how much money did you make with Adsense, rather spend this time for something that will increase your readership. Spend less time in Facebook’s Farmville or World of Warcraft. Really, do. Turn off the TV. Watching it, will not bring you any closer to achieving your goals. If you manage to get rid of these bad habits, it shouldn’t be too hard to squeeze in an extra few hours per week and use them for something creative.

Don’t Get Distracted

With all the media around us, it is easy to get distracted. While it’s good to read other blogs, it’s also easy to get sucked in and waste hours of reading useless crap. Distinguish between good and bad content. Stop reading and write a blog post yourself.

Find Your Passion

Passion motivates you. Ask yourself what motivates you, what do you like to do, what do you know a lot of. Write about things that inspire you, if you blog about something that you really like, it will be so much easier to find time to write. You will want to write about it.

How do you manage your time as a blogger? Share your thoughts in the comments.
